Our Burial Areas
At our cemetery, we are committed to honouring Islamic traditions while providing peaceful, dignified spaces for your loved ones to rest. We offer a variety of burial areas designed to meet the diverse needs of our community, each carefully maintained with respect and compassion.
Our offerings include Private Family Gardens for those who wish to be laid to rest alongside their loved ones in a more secluded setting, and Woodland Burials for those who prefer a natural, environmentally-conscious option in harmony with nature. We also offer a thoughtfully designed general area, the Hussain Hashim Memorial Garden, which serves as a serene and inclusive resting place for members of the wider Muslim community.
Each area has been developed with care, reflecting the values of faith, family, and remembrance.
Woodland Burials
A natural, or woodland burial, is for those wanting a more environmentally friendly means of burial instead of a traditional grave with a formal headstone. Set within an ancient woodland our natural burial grounds offer a truly beautiful alternative to a traditional burial. Graves are set amongst trees and wildflowers with them being simply marked with a rustic stone or wooden plaque.
Burial in the woodland is available to everyone, irrespective of faith or religion. Each grave is marked using a microchip so that it can be identified by future generations.
Hussain Hashim Memorial Grounds
A Muslim burial area in un-consecrated ground. We ensure the body is placed so the head is facing Qibla. We have a marker at the cemetery with an arrow pointing towards Qibla, showing the direction in which the graves are aligned.
The following options are available:
The burial can take place in a shroud or coffin, Families can put the soil back in the graves themselves (backfilling), Families can have a headstone or headstone and kerb memorial,
The cemetery staff offer to meet with all families so individuals needs and requests can be met.
Private Family Gardens
Private family gardens are available with two, three, four, five or six graves. Memorials within these gardens can be up to a maximum of 7’ (2133mm) in length and 3’ (915mm) in width. Each grave can accommodate two coffin burials and up to six sets of ashes
